Newbold’s cycle trails officially opened

Although not fully signed off from a planning perspective (whatever happened to that retrospective planning application….?), and despite being informally used for months, the mountain bike trails opened officially on the 26th October.

This followed a huge amount of tree felling directly alongside the wooded trails – we calculate around 70 healthy trees were cut down.

This is still a shared space

The messaging from the Council hasn’t been great and many cyclists think that other users shouldn’t even be there. We’d be interested to hear how you feel the space is being shared.

What about when cyclists aren’t on the dedicated trails – they’re on the pedestrian desire lines, for example? Do they give way for other users? Do you still feel safe walking there?

Email us with your views – we’d like to hear them.

There’s a voluntary code of conduct in place – what do you think of it?

A new team is managing the day-to-day running of the trails. Their email address is cycletrailsnewbold@warwickdc.gov.uk if you have any problems.
